The hotly anticipated roast of the Canadian pop star reached dizzying heights of popularity on TV and online.
Variety reports that the roast, hosted by Kevin Hart, drew 4.4 million viewers in the key 18-49 demographic on Monday night (March 30), according to Nielsen SoundScan. That’s better than the roasts of Donald Trump (3.48 million), James Franco (3.1 million), and Roseanne Barr (2.64), but trailing behind the roasts of Jeff Foxworthy and Charlie Sheen (6.43 million).
The dressing down of the infamous singer also fared extremely well on social media, being responsible for 40 trending topics throughout the night and generating three million posts across Facebook and Twitter. Roasters on the docket included Shaquille O’Neal, Martha Stewart, Jeff Ross, Snoop Dogg, and Hannibal Buress.
Comedy Central is bound to be rerunning this special until it’s been permanently ingrained in our minds, so be sure to check it out on Comedy Central if you missed it last night!
