World renowned graffiti artist Adam “COST” Cole appeared in a Manhattan courtroom this past week facing charges stemming from a graf bust last October in the city’s Meatpacking District.
The 45 year old artist went into a hiatus that spanned two decades, only to emerge in 2014 and was subsequently arrested not long after his return to the underground world of graffiti.
Cole was arrested by the NYPD in the wee hours of October 5, 2014 red handed, holding a large adhesive paint brush used for large posters. Police also recovered drums of glue and hundreds of his infamous COST stickers in the writer’s Porsche Cayenne SUV.
Cole is facing charges of vandalism, criminal mischief and destruction of property, among other charges.
When COST was arrested, he reportedly admitted to the crime, almost bragging to police,
“You know my graffiti.”
He was last arrested for his menacing art habit in 1995, so Cole has managed to stay off the radar of the NYPD. Until now.
