Carmelo Anthony doesn’t mind playing “second-fiddle” in New York

In a recent ESPN Headlines segment, Carmelo Anthony, the New York Knick and $124 million main ticket expressed that he “second-guessed” his decision to come back to NY due to the teams struggles last season and in further assessment by ESPN stated:

“I try to keep myself from thinking like that. But as a human being, those thoughts definitely come into play. You sit down at night and you’re thinking, ‘Did I really make the right decision?’ and just things like that,” Anthony said Thursday at the team’s training facility. “Not often did I think about that. There was one point in time this season where it was just cloudy and I didn’t really have any clarity; I was second-guessing what I did and the decision I made. But after that, I was smooth sailing.”

Anthony later revealed that if the Knicks were to land another superstar caliber player in the 2016 free agency pool, he would gladly take the backseat and be a second option. According to ESPN, Anthony states, “If I had a chance to be the second option, I will definitely be the second option.” “That just takes the load off of me.” That is a mighty big deal considering that the Knicks organization inevitably placed all their chips on Anthony and at 30, still has some juice left in the tank. Considering the players set to test the waters during 2016 free agency like Kevin Durant, Dwayne Wade, Mike Conley and Al Horford, the Knicks can arguably have something to look for in the future.
