Last night, the Whitney Museum of American Art hosted its Opening Party, sponsored by Max Mara, to celebrate the new building designed by Renzo Piano as well as the first exhibition in the museum’s new home, America Is Hard to See.

Adam D. Weinberg, the Alice Pratt Brown Director, Whitney Chief Curator Donna De Salvo and Whitney architect Renzo Piano and his wife Milly Piano alongside Maramotti family members Luigi Maramotti and Maria Giulia Prezioso Maramotti, welcomed nearly 3000 guests throughout the evening, including Sarah Jessica Parker, Dakota Fanning, Solange Knowles, Andre Balazs, Thelma Golden, Duro Olowu, Mamie Gummer, and directors Julian Schnabel and Jake Paltrow.

Before the official reception, Max Mara hosted a custom Italian dinner, created by chef Nick Anderer (of Maialino), in a private room on the top floor of the museum. Van Wyck + Van Wyck assisted in producing and designing the dinner party. The evening featured DJ sets by Harley Viera-Newton, St. Vincent and Zoe Kravitz, as well as special surprise artist performances by John Caleand Tony Conrad on the new building’s terraces. SJP, Dakota Fanning and Zoe K. looked fabulous in Max Mara. Check out photos below courtesy of bfanyc.
