What triggers a “fight or flight response?” Fear. Fear of the unknown and the uncertain. And, of course, fear of the potentially dangerous.
When your pants are down and you’re trying to fire off a couple of hard fastballs into the porcelain catcher’s mitt there is a heightened sense of vulnerability that occurs. Fight or flight, given the rare set of circumstances, can activate in someone on a hair trigger.
