La Creme comes encased in 30 layers of crystal, topped with rings

A Japanese cosmetics company is releasing what it believes is the world’s most expensive beauty cream at $13,000 a jar.

Only three 2-ounce jars of Cle de Peau Beaute’s La Creme will be sold starting Sept. 21. The company has enlisted actress Amanda Seyfried to promote the product, according to Stylist magazine.

It comes encased in 30 layers of crystal and will be housed in handmade jars designed by  French glassmaker Crystal Saint-Louis topped with three platinum rings, according to Elle magazine.

“We do not usually make limited editions of our products, but this is to mark a special occasion for the Cle de Peau Beaute line,” spokesman Megumi Kinukawa said. ”We hope it will appeal to our loyal customers and people who are interested in gorgeous brands.”

For those who can’t afford to drop $13,000 on a face cream, Barneys sells La Creme in a less luxe jar for $775.
