An eight car Chicago train derails at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport
Early Monday morning, an eight-car train derailed at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport injuring 32 people that were currently on board.
There was no life threatening injuries according to Chicago Fire Commissioner Jose Santiago.
The cause of the derailment has not been identified but apparently, the train may have been going too fast as it was approaching the end-of-line station and didn’t stop at a bumping post causing it to go off its tracks.
According to Christopher Bushell the CTA’s Chief infrastructure officer he believes:
“The train actually climbed over the last stop, jumped up on the sidewalk and then went up the stairs and escalator”
The injured people were taken to area hospitals whereas, it will be 12-24 hours before the station will reopen.
