If you’ve had the misfortune of living under a rock this past week, you missed the musical worlds collective celebration of The College Dropout’s ten year anniversary. Kanye West’s importance has been a topic of great discussion these few days, but each time it was recognized that his music has always been groundbreaking, pushing us places we probably would have been too timid to explore ourselves. His debut album definitely fits into this category, hence this need to stop and reminiscence on its impact on culture.
For those Yeezus fans who never get enough from the emcee, this week has been better gift than any present received during the holiday season. Well, it gets better. Coodie Simmons a videographer, followed Kanye during the recording of the album, which means he has an archive of exclusive content. He released one video today, a rare glimpse inside the studio as Ye records “Never Let Me Down”. Pharrell stopped by the studio to listen to some cuts and he seemed to be vibing pretty hard to what Kanye played him. Once the Roc-A-Fella finished spitting his verse, Skateboard P was sold, like fans would be a few months later.
