Aaron Hernandez arrested in the midst of murder investigation
Early Wednesday morning Patriots tight end and former Florida Gator Aaron Hernandez was arrested as a result of the murder investigation of Odin Llyod. It was more than a week ago that Odin Lloyd who was an acquaintance of Hernandez was found dead in an industrial park near Hernandez’s home.
Following the arrest of Hernandez the New England Patriots announced that he was no longer on their team roster. This is what the Patriots had to say about releasing Hernandez;
“A young man was murdered last week and we extend our sympathies to the family and friends who mourn his loss. Words cannot express the disappointment we feel knowing that one of our players was arrested as a result of this investigation. We realize that law enforcement investigations into this matter are ongoing. We support their efforts and respect the process. At this time, we believe this transaction is simply the right thing to do.”
The arrest warrant for today was reportedly prepped last week after the discovery that Hernandez’s cellphone and home security system were destroyed. Sources informed ABC News that neighborhood video surveillance shows Lloyd, Hernandez, and two other men together hours before Lloyd’s death.
The charges against Hernandez have not been disclosed.
