Akon is taking his interest in cars to the next level and has announced that he will be launching AkonMotor Sports during the 2013 NASCAR season.
Akon has selected racing phenom, Joe Henderson III to lead his Akon Motor Sports team, with Henderson competing in the NASCAR PRO SERIES EAST race at Langley Speedway in VA. On June 22nd.
“I got into motorsports because I’ve always had a love for cars. Cars were always something that gave me that excitement and that rush for life,” said Akon. “That was what really motivated me to get into motorsports.”
In addition to his love for the sport, Akon hopes to lead the charge of commandeering the interest of minorities in NASCAR, both behind the wheel as drivers and in the stands as fans starting with the introduction of Joe Henderson III. With the star power of Akon and the talents of Joe Henderson this could be a double bonanza for sponsors.
