The Charlotte Bobcats’ Al Jefferson and the Dallas Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki were named NBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, March 31, through Sunday, April 6.
Jefferson led the Bobcats to a 4-0 week, which saw them clinch their second playoff berth in franchise history. Jefferson averaged 24.3 points and 13 rebounds, .481 shooting from the floor, and 1.25 blocks. Jefferson 24 points in the Bobcats’ 96-94 overtime victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday. This is the third time this season that Jefferson has staked claim to Player of the Week honors.
Nowitzki led the Mavericks to a 3-1 week, averaging 25.3 points and 8 rebounds. He went 13-of-23 from downtown three-point attempts and had a whopping .565 shooting from behind the arc. He dropped 26 points on 10-of-18 shooting and 11 rebounds in the Mavericks’ 113-107 win over the Los Angeles Clippers on April 3.
