Chris Weidman knocks out Anderson Silva
If I were to compare last night’s UFC 162 main event to something it would be 2011 NBA Finals. In 2011 the Mavericks won the NBA title but all people talked about was how the Heat lost, which brings us to last night. Chris Weidman knocked out arguably the greatest fighter of all time and no one seems to care. In the 24 hours following last night’s fight the talk of the town has been Silva losing not Weidman winning.
After getting taken down in the first round by Weidman’s superior wrestling, Silva opted to stand up in the second round. In the second round Silva was baiting and taunting Weidman which ultimately backfired. Silva who kept putting his hands down, smacking his face, and motioning Weidman to come after him finally got hit.
Weidman connected on a clean punch that put Silva on the mat. A few hits while on the ground prompted Herb Dean to call the fight.
With Weidman as champion what does the future hold for Silva? Will we get a rematch or will he move to “super-fights?”
