updsidedownquakeFriday night in Southern California, a powerful earthquake rattled through out the region. With this being the 2nd earthquake in 2 weeks, it has been reported that there have been aftershocks: some minor and some severe. Unlike the last quake, this recent one unfortunately caused severe damages in certain areas. These damages and injuries include a rock slide in Carbon Canyon causing a car to overturn, water main breaks, windows shattering and more. At least 20 aftershocks have been reported since late Friday according to The LA Times.

According to researchers and scientists: the cause of these earthquakes is spawned from the Puente Hills thrust fall which lies directly in the direction of downtown Los Angeles.

Despite the unexpected incident, the residents continue to remain collected and are prepared for any future earthquakes.

“Tonight’s earthquake is the second in two weeks, and reminds us to be prepared,” – LA Mayor, Eric Garcetti via LA Times.
