I had the chance to experience NFL Sundays though Verizon’s NFL mobile. The app features live video streams from the NFL Network, NBC’s late night Sunday game and NFL Redzone all though Verizon’s newest smartphone, the HTC ONE. While the app had its great moments, it also had a few hiccups here and there.
Any football fan would be more than excited to add this app to their Verizon smartphone. With scores, stats and updates done in real-time, a hardcore football fan shouldn’t miss a beat with their favorite team and the rest of the NFL. A big plus is the user has the choice to track their favorite team, which will allow them to watch highlights and any other content associated with the team they follow.
On game day, there is no shortage of video to keep fans happy and updated on plays they might have missed or revisit a play they may have missed a week before. The load time for video is more than impressive over Verizon’s 4G LTE network as videos had no buffering time and ran smoothly with no delays. Along with scores, stat and video live updates, the app also gives the option to receive injuries, scoring drives, and your fantasy team line — features any football fan can enjoy.
At the moment, NFL Mobile live stream is only available for Verizon customers and requires a user authentication from a Verizon mobile device, which is a quick process. Once the process is over, the device then takes customers to a subscription offer section of the app. For a mere $5 a month, the app will allow you to watch live feeds from three primetime games on your device. Where that option falls short is cable subscriptions allow customers to watch similar feeds via other sports apps i.e. ESPN. It’s up to you to decide if you want to add another subscription to your mobile bill. The upside to the purchase is customers get access to NFL RedZone on Sundays and 24/7 access to NFL Network. For Thursday night games, the app offers “Thursday Night Football Xtra and A Football Life Xtra” which offer points or answering questions and interacting with the live broadcasts.
Overall, the app keeps the more-than-average football happy but falls a little short for those football fan who wants to share their thoughts on the game with other app subscribers. The biggest and best features have to be the game day video, the ability to follow and get the latest names from your favorite team. Adding more social features could give this an app some more steam to best apps like ESPN in the football category. All in all, it’s an app worth checking out.
