Sh*t was all good just a hit ago
August Alsina, Def Jam’s R&B golden child, now has his first taste of industry beef, and it couldn’t come at a more interesting time.
The 21 year old New Orleans native burst onto the scene with his popular single, “I Luv This Sh*t”–the remix features both Trey Songz & Chris Brown–and after touring with 2 Chainz & Pusha T on the 2 Good 2 Be T.R.U. tour, Alsina will be releasing his debut album, Testimony, on April 15th. “I Luv This Sh*t” landed Alsina a Top 50 hit on Billboard, however, despite working with Trey on the remix and performing with him several times, the two crooners are at odds.
In an interview with Rap-Up, Alsina gave some specifics as to why he and Trey no longer see eye-to-eye.
I don’t really f— with Trey right now. We don’t get along right now. He did some other s— and we just don’t rock. Like I tell people all the time, show me that you’re this person on day one…you should always be that person. We were supposed to have a show together and it just went left ’cause I can’t deal with n—-s’ egos and attitudes ’cause I’m just a real n—- comin’ through and I’m rockin’. Once n—-s go to talkin’ a certain type of way, that s— ain’t gon’ fly with me and that’s all that was and I just had to not do the show ’cause I can’t stand on side of a n—- if I really got something that I feel in my heart. It just ain’t gonna work, so I just had to dip and we didn’t do it, but it is what it is.
It’ll be interesting to see where this goes, but it just sounds like a young artist with a lot on the line learning the tricks of the trade. Just last month, Alsina brought out Trey Songz to assist him with his performance of the remix to “I Luv This Sh*t” at 2 Chainz’ tour stop in New York.
