emojisEver notice the lack of brown emojis? Well executives from Apple say they are working to change that.

Apple execs say the company is working to create a more racially diverse set of characters for iPhone users.

“Our emoji characters are based on the Unicode standard, which is necessary for them to be displayed properly across many platforms. There needs to be more diversity in the emoji character set, and we have been working closely with the Unicode Consortium in an effort to update the standard,” Apple’s Katie Cotton, vice president of worldwide corporate communications, told MTV Think Act.

Apple has not said when the new emojis will hit the market.
