BET Honors recap of highlighting moments
Nelson Mandela, Aretha Franklin, BET HonorsIf you were able to catch the BET Honors last night, you would know some of the greatest moments that took the stage last night. Wayne Brady hosted the 2014 BET Honors in Washington, DC at the Warner Theatre, in which great talent hit the stage.

The highlighted honorees of the night was Motown legend, Berry Gordy, Soul legend, Aretha Franklin and rapper and actor, Ice Cube. The show also payed homage and honored the late, Nelson Mandela.  In true Jennifer Hudson style, she took the stage by storm with an immaculate performance. Performing R.E.S.P.E.C.T., Jennifer Hudson moved the crowd with her vocals in a tribute to Legend, Aretha Franklin. Mariah Carey, a legend herself, took the stage to perform her newest single, “You’re Mine.”

In a Berry Gordy tribute, we had performances by Tamar Braxton singing one of Diana Ross’ famous songs “Upside Down,” Janelle Monae, who performed “I Want You Back” by the Jackson 5 and lastly Smokey Robinson, who we all know is NO stranger to Motown and Berry Gordy, performed one of his own personal songs “Tracks of My Tears.”

Other highlights include the Soul legend, Aretha Franklin hitting the stage as well. Aretha performed a song in honor of the late Nelson Mandela. A performance by Aretha’s granddaughter, Victorie Franklin performing “Take me to the King.” Also in attendance, we saw Ludacris, who presented the BET Honor to Ice Cube.
