Big Daddy Kane, the legendary emcee and style icon, is headlining Restoration Rocks! as a part of the annual Bed-Stuy Alive! event. The Saturday show will definitely be one for the ages and one you will not want to miss. “It’s going to be a hip hop version of a James Brown show, with all of the dynamics and a soul feel to it, you know,” he said to Amsterdam News, flexing his salesman abilities.
Kane, a Bed-Stuy native himself, will have a plethora of classic hits to rock the crowd the crowd that will surely swell for a peek at him. With tracks like “Ain’t No Half Steppin”, “Its a Big Daddy Thing”, and “Smooth Operator” his set will surely quench hip hop aficionados thirst for some time-honored hip hop. The former Juice Crew member couldn’t sound more excited for his upcoming appearance, “It makes me feel good. This is something I have always done for my fans.,” he told the AmNews.
“We’re gonna have the live band out here, so we are definitely gonna give a dramatic performance with all the classics,” Kane told the AmNews.“It will be a dramatic performance.” And for his fans he will surely deliver on every promise.
Restoration Rocks! music festival has been organized to display the many positives of the Bed-Stuy community. It has been growing rapidly with each passing year, and this year thanks to the help of Kane, it looks to be the biggest audience ever. Fans will also be treated to performances by DJ Questlove, singer and activist Maya Azucena, and R&B artists Chrisette Michelle. It will be hosted by actor Leon (The Five Heartbeats).
It is a free event, open to the public. Restoration Rocks! music festival will take place at Restoration Plaza, located at 1368 Fulton St. (between Brooklyn and New York venues) in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn.
