Our “Man of the YearMacklemore & Ryan Lewis have acquired a new recognition in the name of Hip-Hop. Billboard celebrated the 25th anniversary of their Hot Rap Songs chart by judging the best-performing hits that have rocked audiences since 1989. With names like The Notorious B.I.G., Salt-N-Peppa and more topping the list, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ hit “Thrift Shop” beat out the rest as number one.

“Thrift Shop” came after the 69 boyz’ “Tootsie Roll” & Missy Elliott‘s ’99 collaborative hit with Nas, Eve & Q-Tip “Hot Boyz”. The Grammy winners also appeared on the chart once again with their other single “Can’t Hold Us”. It was great to see a wide selection on the list. It reminds us how much Hip-Hop has evolved and that it has broken off into a new sound that any audience will enjoy.
