Misdemeanors turn to assaults for an unfortunate Brooklyn man
Sometimes for African Americans in this country, even when you’re innocent, it’s still your fault.
Glenn Broadnax, a 35 year old Brooklynite, has been charged with assault after the police shot at him and hit two innocent bystanders.
Yes, you heard that right.
See, a Manhattan District attorney has cleverly came up with reasoning that because his conduct caused the police to shoot at him, he was actually the cause of the two women getting shot by the NYPD in a crowded Times Square travel hub known as Port Authority.
At first, Broadnax was only charged with menacing, drug possession, and resisting arrest, all misdemeanors. The district attorney convinced the grand jury to charge Broadnax with assault, stating in a nine count sealed indictment Wednesday that Broadnax “recklessly engaged in conduct which created a grave risk of death.”
Shannon Lucey, the assistant district attorney on the case stated that “The defendant is the one that created the situation that injured innocent bystanders.”
Maybe it’s because the two women that were shot by the NYPD have multi-million dollar cases pending against the city. Just maybe.
