Rumors surfaced numerous times about Blackberry Messenger (BBM) becoming available for Android and iOS devices. According to Blackberry news site Crackberry the cross platform version of BBM will actually be dropping on Friday for Android and Saturday for iOS.
The first announcement from Blackberry about allowing its smartphone competitors to utilize its messaging system was back in May. The company has been struggling against manufactures like Apple and Samsung and the rise of messaging service WhatsApp led Blackberry to open its doors on its exclusive app. WhatsApp claims it currently has 300 million users worldwide.
If the rumor is true, the app will fall in nicely with all the upgraded or new iPhone owners since the iPhone 5S and 5C comes out Friday.
At the present time, Blackberry has declined to comment on the rumor.
