Good ol’ Brooklyn hustlin’.
With only $90.03 in his bank account, an impending rent bill and a few hours until his 34th birthday, Daniel Arnold was in a worst case scenario situation. However, as they say pressure forms diamonds and Arnold’s was buried within his iPhone. The Brooklyn-based photographer, named “the best photographer on Instagram” by Gawker two years ago, used his e-fame to amass a small fortune. Arnold offered his 22,000 Instagram followers a chance to purchase 4×6 prints of any of his nearly 1,300 self-described, “humanist urban voyeurism” photos via his Instagram for a meager $150. What transpired afterward, not even Arnold could have fathomed.
Arnold has already accumulated $15,000 worth of requests, and counting. One of his buyers offered $1,000 for all of his photos that received over 1,000 likes, and he has already collected $5,000 from other buyers. With an overwhelming amount of back orders to fill, it’s safe to say he won’t be “eating toast three meals a day” anymore as he told Forbes in a recent interview. Check out his blog, his work Instagram and a few of our favorite photos by him in the pages below.
