Fans of art around the world know British graffiti artist Banksy for his simple yet powerful images on buildings all over Europe. For the month of October, the professional tagger will be residing in New York City and blessing buildings all over the five boroughs with his art. He will be revealing a new piece everyday this month. But there’s always a price to pay.
The residents of East New York have already started the hustle to bank off the artists’ work. In Brooklyn, locals have covered up the artwork with cardboard boxes and are charging people $20 to view or take a picture. To the real fans of the artist, this is outrageous. But to these business men, the hustle is real. “You want to take a picture, its gonna cost something… Or, the s**t can just get broke.” Watch a video of the visual robbery here.
