Well that didn’t take long. The NFL season is only two weeks old and the Cleveland Browns have unofficially given up. Not really but their trade of Trent Richardson screams that.
The Browns have traded away Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts for a first round draft pick. Richardson was the third overall pick just a year ago in the 2012 NFL Draft. During his rookie campaign he put up 950 yards despite playing part of the season with broken ribs.
The reason for the surprise trade is that Richardson didn’t fit in first year coach Rob Chudzinski’s plans. The Browns are looking for a running back with more explosiveness which they though Richardson lacked two games in to the year.
In the 2014 NFL Draft the Cleveland Browns will have 10 overall picks with seven of them coming in the first four rounds. This is only the third time ever that two of the top three picks of a draft have played on the same team. (Andrew Luck #1, Trent Richardson #3)
