Bruno Mars, Nas, Swizz Beatz and so many more A-listers were out and about to celebrate Super Bowl in New York.
After that shell-shocking defeat the Denver Broncos endured at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks, Nas and Hennessy VS threw a grand Superbowl after party at Spring Studios. The “Never Stop., Never Settle” gala drew out a plethora of A-listers. Icons Nas and former Destiny’s Child songstress Kelly Rowland performed plenty of fan favorites, much to the delight of the packed Spring Studios crowd. DJ White Shadow and Mark Ronson were both in attendance, handling the decks.
Hennessy turned Spring Studios into a mini nightclub/lounge with two main rooms serving as the host for the myriad of fans present. The first area was a relatively chill lounge, while conversely, the second room resembled a concert hall with about four separate bars serving some of Hennessy’s classic mixes. Strobe and neon lights littered the ceiling as flashes of vivid color splashed onto everyone dancing below.
Kelly hit the stage early in the night and performed a craftily putting together selection of her oldies along with some new hits. Surprisingly, most of the songs in Kelly’s act were Destiny’s Child’s hits; One of the few solo shots arrived when the classic melody of “Dilemma” came on. Among the Destiny’s Child’s oldies were “Survivor” and “Say My Name.” However, the high point of her set definitively announced itself when Kelly brought out former “American Idol” winner Fantasia Barrino. The fabulous duet performed their Grammy nominated hit, “Without Me.”
Finally, longtime Hip-Hop legend and ambassador Nas graced Spring Studios with his talent as the event’s closing act. The Queens MC celebrated the 20 year anniversary of his magnum opus, “Illmatic” by setting the crowd on fire with a rendition of “NY State of Mind.” Nasir also put on a few other fan favorites such as “The Message,” “Made You Look,” and “Got Yourself a Gun.” The surprise guests didn’t stop with Fantasia however as Nas brought out longtime collaborator AZ for a few of their classic joints.
Jay-Z and Beyonce also made a stop at the after party as Queen B was seen dancing and hanging out with Kelly in the VIP section. Hov also seemed to have a good time as the king of New York enjoyed a cigar while cheering on fellow NY rapper, Nas.
