On Thursday evening, Bryan “Birdman” Williams & his brother Ronald “Slim” Williams were honored with the Icon Award at the BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards at Hammerstein Ballroom for their unprecedented achievement in music. The evening also served as a reunion as we don’t think we have seen this many Young Money and Cash Money artists in the same building ever. Nicki Minaj who receieved several awards was proud to show her support and of course Lil’ Wayne was front row and center next to Baby and Slim.

The brothers, who co-founded Cash Money Records in 1991, were treated to an all-star tribute, which included performances by Kevin Rudolf, DJ Khaled, Mystikal, Future, Curren$y, Ace Hood, Busta Rhymes, Turk, Mannie Fresh and Juvenile. Each artist delivered a dynamic interpretation of a Cash Money classic, such as “Slow Motion,” performed by Curren$y, and “Ha” performed by Mystikal. Turk, Juvenile and Mannie Fresh had everyone on their feet when they performed “Bling Bling” and “Back That A$$ Up.” Birdman, Lil Wayne and the rest of the crew even performed a few of their classics like “I Need A Hot Girl,” and “Still Fly.”

During his speech Birdman said, “I dedicated my soul and my  life and I wouldn’t be standing right here if it wasn’t for Dwayne motherf***ing Carter right now, you heard me? So to all you motherf***ers who do this – and I see a lot of you young ni**as doing this sh*t and I know y’all been looking at us doing it, but one thing you see with us – you see loyalty, everybody on this motherf**king stage and everybody who reps this brand – you’ll see loyalty, you understand me, and I see a lot of y’all doing this sh*t but…this is not an individual achievement, we did what we did off of creativity, but I got a lot of staff members in this audience who make a lot of sh*t happen, I see you, so shout out to the whole motherf***ing Universal staff, we’ve been in that b*tch for 17 years man and I ain’t trying to go nowhere unless the check get bigger! This ain’t nothing but a motherf**ing business n**as…on some real sh*t – I respect y’all and this man right here…I’d die a hundred times and wouldn’t ask one time why the f**k I died, this the realest ni**a I ever met in my motherf***ing life, his name is Dwayne otherf***ing Carter.”

Lil Wayne also took to the mic to say a few words. “Ladies and gentlemen…first of all we’d like to thank you all for being here tonight…we’d also like to thank ourselves for being here, we really appereciate this whole situation, also we appreciate everyone who took part in this, everyone especially you Mr. Doug E. Fresh, we appreciate you my man…but honestly I just want to say something, I don’t care how many years we have been doing this or how many year we are going to do this, I just want you all to know…I honestly mean it when I say I do it for you.”

Birdman closed his speech with “I can guarantee you one thing, only one thing I can guarantee you, if you go against us you’re guaranteed to lose!”
