Continuing the theme of big games in New York this weekend, the Knicks hosted the Miami Heat on Saturday night. The Knicks tried to remain in the game but the Heat kept pulling away.
Late in the third quarter while the lead was down to single digits, Lebron was charging towards the basket but Carmelo Anthony wasn’t trying to let him score so easily. Anthony wrapped up James then let him go and Lebron went tumbling to the ground. It was ruled a personal, regular two-shot foul.
The Heat won 106-91. Lebron James finished with 30 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Carmelo Anthony finished with 26 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists.
During their post-game interviews the two discussed the “tackle foul”. Lebron seemed to be a little upset while Carmelo joked about the situation.
“It’s not the first time I’ve been tackled,” he said. “I don’t know. It shouldn’t be a personal foul, because it’s not a basketball play. But at the same time, he sees me with a full head of steam, he’s just trying to wrap me up. I don’t think he intended for me to hit the ground.”
Here’s what Carmelo Anthony had to say:
