OVO’s Jahron Brathwaite AKA PARTYNEXTDOOR released his song, “West District” today. Over the dingy-electronic beat, which originally served as the instrumental for Drake’s most recent release, the Rihanna-inspired “Days In The East”, the Canadian crooner gives fair warning to anyone thinking that it’s all love. That goes for men and women as he sings:
‘Cause when I’m on the road/I be on a roll/I mean you can hold me down, but I’m not your home.
Then PARTY warns the fellas:
Ain’t sh*t pretty, but my b*tch and my mama/Anyone can get the drama.
PARTY’s, “West District” will not hype a party nor make one want to dance. In fact, the chopped and screwed slow jam doesn’t inspire one to chill with his significant other. Instead, “West District” makes one want to be alone, get high and think. We just hope that this eerie-slow sounding music doesn’t become an auto-tune-like trend, because very few are good at it.
Party’s getting better than good.
Listen to the track and share your thoughts with us.
