Converse presents their new collection with an artistic kickoff.
Launched this past Friday, the Converse Spring ’14 All Star Collection was clearly made for the creative at heart. Featuring platforms, tie-dye, and the recreation of the ’72 All Star Chucks, Converse has designed sneakers that coincide perfectly with the pattern and bold color trends this Spring.
A special media event was held in New York City recently in celebration of the collection’s launch, more specifically the Chuck Taylor All Star ’70. Graffiti artist Queen Andrea spoke on three different murals she created for the brand at said event. Her murals are part of a bigger collective entitled “Sneakers Clash,” a 16-city display of art on miscellaneous buildings throughout the world, as well as NYC, Boston, and San Francisco. In February, Converse began hosting “Wall Of Clash,” an interactive event where fans of local street artists get to suggest what they paint at various locations. They also took it to social media with “Photo Clash,” where Twitter fans can submit images that will be picked and recreated by the artists, and will then be shown at select Converse retailers. “Designed to disrupt and clash against a gray world,” expect to see more murals in Paris, Barcelona, Madrid, Berlin, Prague, Warsaw, Zagreb, Belgrade, Istanbul, Thessaloniki, Cairo, Beirut, Cape Town and Johannesburg in the coming weeks.
