“New Year, New Beginnings”
It looks like Def Jam Records came into the new year with new beginnings and changes. Back in March, Joie Manda left his title as president, moving forward joining the urban team at Interscope Records.
Following these new beginnings, last night Def Jam announced Senior Vice President of A&R, Sha Money XL, will no longer be a part of Def Jam records, he’ll also take the similar route Manda took and will work for Epic Records.
Although changes have been made, new beginnings were made for Shawn “Pecas” Costner who has been announced as the new Senior Vice President of Def Jam Records.
Pecas previously worked for both Elektra and Arista Records and joined Def Jam in 2005, building his name in the industry as one of the best to work with. According to HotNewHipHop, Pecas is honored to have been the one that was chosen for this position.
“Def Jam [Records] is the greatest Hip Hop label in the world and it is an honor and a privilege to work with such incredible artists every day,” Costner said in a press statement. “I am appreciative of [Island Def Jam Records President] Steve Bartels for his leadership and his continued faith in me as we move the Def Jam brand into the future. With our talented staff, an unprecedented roster of superstars and an exciting crop of newcomers, we are poised to win big in 2013 and beyond.”
