That seems to be the case. According to this tweet from Nipsey‘s personal Twitter account,
Shout to Jay Z for buying 100 copies of #Crenshaw! http://t.co/0q0ymjOiFg http://t.co/L2HGopo7Ob

which links directly to a recent post on Jay’s LIFE+TIMES website, titled #NEWRULES, depicting three tall stacks of Nipsey Hussle‘s recently released Crenshaw album, which he sold for $100 directly to fans via iamproud2pay.com. While a relationship, personal or working, hasn’t been publicly established between the independent west-coast emcee and Jay, who’s currently on his solo Magna Carter world tour, one would imagine Hov is enthusiastic about independent artist ideologies being realized. It was only three months ago when Jay sold exclusive rights to his latest album, Magna Carta Holy Grail, to Samsung for a reported 20-million dollar sum, and released the full-length LP while simultaneously keeping its music entirely off of mainstream radio. Not to mention, prior to the release of the album, Mr. Carter inked a deal with Universal Music Group to house his record label, Roc Nation, as a sister label to Def Jam, the label that sprouted his career, rather than have it as a mere subsidiary under the Columbia umbrella, which is already under two umbrellas of its own. Seeing this attitude used in an action plan such as Nipsey Hussle‘s Crenshaw marketing scheme must have struck something in Jay Z’s mind, and apparently, he decided to buy a whole 10% of the reported available stock.
