Don Slay Is No College Dropout
The young spitter from Brooklyn is in fact a senior at Morgan State University in Baltimore where he is a Marketing major. And he will graduate. But just before he picks up his degree, Don Slay kicks some knowledge on his debut mixtape Big Crowd Small Circle.
It’s just his second project since the college emcee first started drafting rhymes at a young age, and it is from his youth where he continues to draw inspiration to create his music.
On “Dreams To Life,” the second track on the mixtape and hands down the hardest joint of the 10 songs, Slay says: “I’m telling you my life you all say I’m rapping/ If so then where’s the applause you f**kers should be clapping.”
Throughout the tape Slay proves he is both scholar and lyrical genius. He recorded the entire project with Grammy nominated mix engineer Ariel Borujow at Stadiumred, the Harlem based studio that is home to legendary producer Just Blaze.
