Drake releases another new track to keep fans anxiously waiting for his new album…

Drake has been having a good week so far. Last night, he tore down the stage at his fourth annual OVO fest, supported by a star studded guest list that included: Kanye West, The Weenknd, ASAP Rocky, Miguel, J. Cole, Lil Wayne, TLC, and Diddy. And this morning, Mr. October released his newest single, hopefully from Nothing Was The Same: “Hold On, We’re Going Home”.

This track is a departure from Drake’s usual sound. He has always had an affinity with R&B, but this time he borrows from 80′s smooth pop. Using tribal drums and synthesizers that could have easily been played by Quincy Jones, Drake has crafted easily one of the years smoothest songs. Taking a step back from the club anthems that he has been recently releasing.

Vocal wise, Drake really shines. Choosing to go full out singing, rather than his usual rap/sing-songy hybrid. It pays off extremely well, and I can see this being a late late night anthem.
