The anticipation for Eminem‘s 8th studio album, Marshall Mathers LP 2, is beginning to reach a fever pitch. Slim Shady has heightened the anticipation even more by leaking “Rap God” this afternoon. “Rap God” was one of the titles that drew a lot of attention when the MMLP2 tracklist was released last week and the song does not disappoint.
Em treats the frenetic instrumental like lyrical exercise, flipping his flow with multisyllabic rhymes at a breakneck pace. The song echoes the sentiments that a large group of 90s and early 2000s rappers who have achieved legendary status seem to be feeling lately: they are lyrical deities and should be treated as such. Check out the banger below and look out for the Marshall Mathers LP 2 when it becomes available for retail on November 5th.
