Facebook and Instagram looks to eliminate arising competition by including a video application.
On June 20th, a source at TechCrunch claims Facebook will reveal that Instagram will allow people to take and share short videos during a special press event. The video application sounds extremely similar to Vine, which loops six second videos with the ability to share them on multiple platforms.
It’s no surprised that Facebook would create a video application in defense against Twitter’s Vine.
Although Vine has been rising in popularity as hip-hop artists have taken to its use for entertainment; a video addition to Instagram could mean RIP to Vine.
Allegations suggest, if true, Instagram videos would run between five and 10 seconds.
Last week, Facebook sent invitations to media outlets stating, “a small team has been working on a big idea.”
Facebook has yet to confirm or comment on these allegations.
