In the wake of Paul Walker‘s unfortunate and shocking death this past Saturday, Universal Pictures has halted all production for upcoming Fast and Furious film. This will be the seventh big budget entry in the franchise, that was slated for a July 11 release. It was nearly half way completed before the tragedy took place, in fact, Walker was home for a Thanksgiving break from shooting.
The studio addressed this in a press statement that was made public on Wednesday. “Right now, all of us at Universal are dedicated to providing support to Paul’s immediate family and our extended “Fast & Furious” family of cast, crew, and filmmakers, ” they graciously said.
Since Walker was one of the stars of the film, they do need to explore their options and what direction to take the vehicular action flicks, hence the suspension of filming. In the meantime, his fourteen year family on set have released a video to memorialize the actor. Running two minutes, the emotional visuals display Walker laughing with co-stars, as well as multiple scenes from “Fast & Furious”; all set to Skylar Grey‘s “I’m Coming Home”. It is incredibly touching and you can check it out above.
