Yesterday, for the first time in decades, the US government shut down.

What you need to understand, however, is that the US government is so dysfunctional they are still getting paid while they are not working.

Let that sink in.

Some Congresspeople have opted out of receiving pay in lieu of the shutdown in respect to the hundreds of government employees that are also going without a paycheck. But not all. And, more frustratingly, there are no laws that say they shouldn’t get paid while the government shuts down.

Felonious Monk once made a video that got posted to YouTube where he most enthusiastically and poignantly made the point to the US government:

Perhaps it’s time we as citizens revisit his message and use it as fuel to our political activist fire.
