Marlon Wayans newest parody, A Haunted House 2, hits theaters this Friday, April 18.
As to be expected, the movie was full of that familiar Wayan’s humor suffused with just “dumb-funny” jokes and satires that kept the theater full of people laughing from start to finish. The film commenced picking up from where it left off in the first “Haunted House” with Malcolm and his cousin Ray-Ray driving off with Kisha, played by Essence Atkins, who was actually still possessed. They get into a car accident, which leaves Kisha seemingly unconscious, allowing an opportunity for a shakened-up Malcolm and Ray-Ray to escape, abandoning her body. Jumping to a year later, Malcolm is in a committed relationship with a mother of two who all just happen to be Caucasian – so many jokes there; they move into a beautiful new home that only looked that way on the outside, but was a familiar dark presence which terrorized the new family on the inside. Demons and spooks combined with loads of satirical funny moments helped to maintain a consistent balance of “Ha Ha’s” and “Whoa’s” for the full duration of the film.
Marlon was his typical self together with Rick Alvarez (co-writer) in their delivery of pure comedic behavior through a film, unfiltered, vulgar and hysterically funny all at the same time; to feel uncomfortable and completely entertained in unison. Funny man Marlon Wayans has kept it pushing after he and his brothers were pushed out of the “Scary Movie” franchise after the second one, while 2 others were released thereafter, not to mention, a fifth on the way. From writing and acting in his own movies, new internet ventures, and further cultivating his talent of being a funny-guy, Marlon cherishes his capacity to make people laugh in movies and doing stand-up.
Go see “A Haunted House 2″ this weekend. You will not be disappointed.
