How could anyone not love the Muppets or this film? A hit since the 1970s, the Muppets have always been on screen displaying crazy antics that always entertain.
And that’s no difference with the latest installment of the Muppets! “Muppets Most Wanted,” directed by James Bobin and starring Tina Fey, Ricky Gervais and Ty Burell (as well as the usual voice actors of Steve Whitmire, Eric Jacobson, Dave Goelz, Bill Barretta, David Rudman and Matt Vogel), magically draws the viewer into a completely new world of wonder and awe that is sure to entertain both children and adults alike.
We start out at the end of the first Muppets movie with everyone united as a big happy family until terror strikes when the world’s most dangerous frog Constantine escapes from a Gulag jail and magically finds his way to Kermit and his group of friends, who have just been signed to booking agent Dominic Badguy (Gervais). Through a hilarious journey, which leads to confusion and song-and-dance sequences, the movie boasts a plausible (if that’s possible) story full of characters and cameos you would have never expected.
And the best part of the entire movie is spotting actors and musicians in small cameo roles that are sure to become almost like a scavenger hunt for adults and parents. We have a hunch that the parents will have more fun with the sightings then their kids! These cameos include those by Lady Gaga cooking with Tony Bennett, Sean Combs, Usher, Celine Dion, Zach Galifianakis, Tom Hiddleston, Stanley Tucci, Christolph Waltz and many, many more. Possibly the best ones were a tie between Danny Trejo and Ray Liotta in the Gulag or Frank Langella who was officiating a special event, which we will not spoil for you!
Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey and Ty Burell did an amazing job at being as comical as ever, each with their own singing parts (and while I’ll admit Fey’s sounded a bit too auto-tuned, it’s an added joke due to the countless times she’s made it known she can’t sing). Her character of Liz Lemon on 30 Rock was often the butt of jokes involving singing.
Tina Fey Singing:
As expected, Gervais, Fey and Burell rocked their comedic timing and managed to say even the most humorous things in a serious manner. The movie is a definite must watch as it’s just too much fun. The second it starts you’re engulfed in a well-timed movie full of innuendoes. Children will have enough to laugh at on their own without the dreaded gag comedy every parent can only tolerate for so long. This is definitely a movies buff’s dream as it borrows from every genre possible – from prison escape to romance to everything in between, but only with a unique Muppets twist to make the film just that much more enjoyable.
“Muppets Most Wanted” is now playing.
