We are livinnng Single
Before there was Sex and The City, Girlfriends, and Single Ladies, there was a show that defined what it means to be a woman and not lowering our standards and it was Living Single. Living Single recently celebrated their 20th anniversary and the show continues to syndicate on television around the world.
The cast of the show were rapper Queen Latifah as Khadijah James, Kim Fields as Regina “Regine” Hunter, Kim Coles as Synclair James-Jones, Erika Alexander as Maxine “Max” Felice Shaw, T.C. Carson as Kyle Barker, and John Henton as Overton “Obie” Wakeford Jones.
The show premiere on August 22, 1993 on FOX. On the show, all of the women lived together except for Max in New York and they all have professional jobs Max being a lawyer, Khadijah owning her magazine Flavor, Synclair went from secretary at Flavor to acting on a children tv show, and Regine becoming a fashion buyer.
The show decided to add some testosterone by having Overton and Kyle to level out the battle of the sexes and they both had professional jobs Kyle as a stockbroker and Overton as a handyman. The show had excellent ratings where it became a cult favorite among both women and men that changed the face of television. The show was cancelled on January 01, 1998 but the show is still being compared to new shows like HBO‘s Girls and reality tv shows like Basketball Wives & The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
