Queens lost an epic landmark in Hip-Hop history last night. For those who aren’t aware, 5 Pointz in Queens has been the mecca of graffiti since 1993, housing an abundance of work from aerosol artists from all over the five boroughs and was known worldwide. Within the past year, the complex also known as the Phun Phactory had it’s future set with the owners Jerry and David Wolkoff proposing to tear down the buildings and replace it with a $400 million luxury housing project.

Last night, the owners took to the walls and painted over the various artworks with white paint demolishing hip hop history with police protection. This follows the epic rally that went down to prevent the demolition of the complex a few days ago. Graffiti supporters even tried to take legal action but a 10-day restraining order was the best that could be done.
