We here at Her Source hope the #30DaysVegan Challenge is going well for you! Slip ups are inevitable but we hope you’ve been able to stay on track as much as possible. Last week, intern, Lauren’s journal entry included ways she was working to eat healthier. Specifically for her, she chose to adopt a vegan diet for 30 days. This week she speaks about her adventures in fitness. Check it out below!
Hi ladies! Has this week been as exciting for me as it has been for you? Hard yes but I believe in the end it will all be worth it. This week I’ve attempted to conquer a new giant. Fitness. You’ve got it, working out, sweating, the really hard stuff. I’ve found so far that in order to truly get the most out of this experience I MUST enjoy what I am doing. Therefore, I knew a boring workout was not going to fly with me, so I’ve taken up yoga & zumba.
Zumba is taught for free at my school on Wednesdays and Fridays. The fast paced workout includes fiery Latin dance moves, which are ultimately heart pumping cardio. I enjoy Zumba because its fun! That’s it! I don’t think its the secret to shedding hundreds of pounds, however, I do believe that zumba’s ability to keep one interested is a driving force in fitness or it should be.
Next, after years of listening to Russell Simmons, I decided to try yoga. My friends and I located donation based classes in the village. I pictured yoga as being super relaxing and easy, however, when I got there, it was totally different (LOL)! My yoga was intense. The class was full. The lights were dim and by the end of the hour class, EVERYONE was sweating. She forced us to stretch our bodies and our brains.
Both classes were extremely exciting and I will be going back. Let me know what exciting new things you tried this week! How do you feel different?
Over the course of this 30 days I will explore vegan-ism and physical/mental exercise. To read more about the #30DayVegan Challenge follow me at @lo4o4_ on twitter & @HerSource for daily tips & posts! I look forward to sharing more with you guys.
