Mrs. Carter causes a stir as 2013 closes out
Singer Beyonce is in the middle of controversy for her latest single, “XO”. It was just two weeks ago that Mrs. Carter put out her surprise self-titled fifth album, Beyonce as she closes out her 2013.
The single, “XO” contains an sample of the space shuttle Challenger explosion that occurred back in 1986 and you could hear the sample in the beginning of the song.
The concern didn’t come until Keith Cowing , a former NASA employee and other NASA employees wrote a post slamming the sample as “repugnant” and calling on Beyonce to remove it from the track.
Here is what the powerhouse diva said about the sample,
My heart goes out to the families of those lost in the Challenger disaster. The song ‘XO’ was recorded with the sincerest intention to help heal those who have lost loved ones and to remind us that unexpected things happen, so love and appreciate every minute that you have with those who mean the most to you. The songwriters included the audio in tribute to the unselfish work of the Challenger crew with hope that they will never be forgotten.
