Hip-Hop Summit Youth Council Works With City Council and NYPD to Market and Promote Gun Buyback in Harlem, the First of 10 Initiatives to Keep NYC Safe

The Hip-Hop Summit Youth Council continues to fight crime with Geraldo and FOX NEWS. The organization worked for weeks with the Network on this story to highlight the important work of Cure Violence, Harlem Mothers SAVE, and their Hip-Hop Against Gun & Gang Violence Project. The project is now in day 95 of a 109-day campaign to curb gun violence by working with community groups and the NYPD to promote peace and prosperity. A New York/Chicago Gang Summit is in the works with FOX because the violence in the Windy City is out of control–so stay tuned.
In addition, we also wanted to address Stop, Question and Frisk, a much debated policy that we are working directly with NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly on to tweak through our “Rap 2 Bridge the Gap” initiative. The focus of the project is to tour public schools and public housing to help build stronger relations between NYPD, students and young adults who are most affected by crime fighting policy.
