A game that features the NFL’s best offense in the Denver Broncos and the league’s best defense in the Seattle Seahawks, Super Bowl XLVIII will be played tonight in East Rutherford, NJ at MetLife Stadium.
Super Bowl XLVIII is the first NFL championship game to be held in the New York metro area since December 1962 when the Packers beat the Giants at Yankee Stadium.
To the chagrin of some, the game itself has been billed as the New York/New Jersey Super Bowl instead of one or the other.
So is it a New York or New Jersey Superbowl?
“It’s a New Jersey Super Bowl,” said A.J. Calloway, a Newark, NJ native and former host of BET’s 106 and Park.

The Extra TV correspondent has been covering Super Bowl festivities all week on both sides of the Hudson and is loyal to his New Jersey roots. “New York will get the credit,” Calloway told The Source.
Joe Budden is a bit more diplomatic: “I consider it a New York/New Jersey Super Bowl,” said the Jersey City, NJ native.
The hip hop vet and Love and Hip Hop star acknowledges the dual naming for the region’s venue is justified: “While the game is being played in New Jersey, all of the festivities will be in New York. It’s however you want to cut the pie.”

Operator, can we get a New Yorker on the line?
“The game will be played at the stadium in New Jersey,” said Grammy-nominated Mack Wilds, a Staten Island native. “So you can’t argue that.”
With the various story lines and the hoopla of what the game should be labeled: What about the actual game?
Any predictions?
“It’s hard,” said Wilds.
“I can’t chose either way. I’m gonna be at the edge of my seat throughout the whole game. On one hand I really want Peyton to win or my twin Russell Wilson—that’s my twin right there! I want to see him do his thing.”
Looks like Wilds OWNED IT by picking the Seahawks.
Take it on home Joey:
“I’ve got Denver winning it and Peyton winning his second ring,” said Budden.“I don’t think Russell [Wilson] and his crew are quite ready for the big stage and the bright lights just yet. But they’ve got a tremendous team. It’ll be great to see one of the greatest quarterbacks ever against that tremendous secondary that Seattle has.”
Dubbed the The New York/New Jersey Superbowl, Super Bowl XLVIII will be the first Super Bowl held at an open-air stadium in a cold-weather venue. Previous Super Bowls in cold-weather venues were held at indoor stadiums.
Kickoff for tonight’s big game is set for 6:30PM ET.
