The Motor City could use a jump start from the rest of us
On December 3, 2013, Detroit became the largest municipality (city, town, school district, etc.) to enter Chapter 9 bankruptcy in US history. The city is in, approximately, $18 billion deep in debt. While the rest of the country is caught up in PS4′s and Xbox One’s, Detroit faces a problem bigger than your long overdue final paper from last semester or missing a credit card payment-in other words, an issue of such gravity that the average person can’t really comprehend. Now that we’re passed the day of giving thanks for what we have and looking forward to the day of giving gifts to each other, we’ve compiled a list of things that the Hip-Hop culture can give back to Detroit for the immeasurable amount it’s given to the rest of us. For what would our car industry and popular music be like without its contributions?
