Ice Cube gives an update on N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton.
Rap legend, Ice Cube, spoke with MTV about the forthcoming N.W.A. biopic, Straight Outta Compton. ”We’re trying to tell aspects of our lives that people don’t know about,” the rap-turned-actor explained. Casting for the film begins today, and Cube has already vocalized his desire for his son to portray him on the silver screen. “I want my son to play me … I’ma give him a shot, see what he can do,” Cube explained in an interview with The BoomBox back in June.
F. Gary Grey, who’s directing credits include Law Abiding Citizen, A Man Apart, and The Italian Job, will take the director’s chair once again for the film. Dr. Dre as well as Eazy-E’s widow, Tomica Woods will also lend their hand as producers for the biopic.
Cube has already expressed a lot of enthusiasm about the film. “The neighborhood influenced NWA and then NWA influenced the neighborhood. That’s what we’re trying to portray.” Check out the interview here!
