According to HiphopDX, Nas’ Illmatic streams have seen a 300 percent sale increase since last week.
The actual album has also seen an increase in sales, according the HHDX. Illmatic, which was released April 19, 1994, has seen an 844 percent increase in sales. In 1994, the album sold 14,987 copies during it’s first week. As of today, Nas’ Illmatic has sold 1,686,232 albums.
Additionally The 20 year anniversary re-issue of Illmatic dubbed Illmatic XX debuted this week on the Soundscan Charts at #25 with sales of 12,086 according to Hits Daily Double
Also, this month marks the 20th anniversary of Outkast debut album, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik. Last week at Coachella Music and Film Festival, Outkast performed a list of their songs such as “Skew It on the Bar-B,” “Rosa Parks” and “B.O.B.,” to name a few. Also, at Coachella, Nas performed the entire Illmatic album.
