New York Knicks point guard, Ray Felton has been arrested and charged with felony weapons possession. Felton isn’t the 1st athlete to get himself in trouble with illegal gun possession charges. Remember New England Tightend Aaron Hernandez?
Or what about these other 6 NBA players caught with illegal weapons?
Gilbert Arenas And Javaris Crittenton
Teammates Arenas and Crittenton ran into trouble with the NBA when it was discovered the two would bring unloaded sidearms into Wizards’ locker room and fire the unloaded weapons in the locker room. The result for both players, suspensions handed down by NBA commissioner David Stern. Since then Arenas and Crittenton career went down the tubes. Arenas hasn’t played in the NBA since 2012, while Crittenton hasn’t seen the NBA since 2009 and has been sitting in jail were he has been charged with murder and the possession drugs with the intent to sell.
Stephen Jackson
The year was 2006 and Jackson found himself outside an Indianapolis strip club, when he got punch in the face and then hit by a car. What his attackers didn’t know was Jackson had a pistol on him. The then Jackson shot 5 shots, no one was hit or hurt besides Jackson. Jackson was arrested for the shooting but was then released because the incident was reported as self-defense.
Sebastian Telfair
The former Cavs guard isn’t a stranger when it comes to gun crimes. His first incident came in 2005 when he boarded a flight with a handgun inside a pillow case, he told the police that he forgot he had the gun. Two years after, Telfair was pulled over in NYC after speeding. His car was searched the police recovered a loaded .45 caliber handgun. Once again he told police he had no knowledge of the gun. He pleaded guilty in court and received a three game suspension from the NBA.
Jayson Williams
One of the most idiotic moves by a NBA player not using any common sense. The former NBA baller was giving a tour of his home all while playing with a shotgun. The gun accidentally went off and killed his limo driver. There was speculation that Williams try to cover things up which we will never know if they were true or false. In the long run William pled guilty to aggravated assault and went to jail in 2010.
Delonte West
Delonte West seemed to be ready for the zombie apocalypse when he was arrest for gun possession in 2009. West was pulled over for traffic violation and that when a Beretta pistol, a .357 magnum and a Remington 870 shotgun were discovered in a guitar case. West claimed he was carrying the weapons for self-defense. The result of the possession, West pleaded guilty to the traffic and weapons charges and was sentenced to electronic monitoring, unsupervised probation, and 40 hours of community service as well as psychological counseling.
Raymond Felton
Raymond Felton’s estranged wife turned in a high-powered FNH 5.7 x 28mm semi-automatic handgun over to police, saying she feared for her life and didn’t want the weapon inside the apartment the couple are living in.
