Talk about a sighting
Over the past couple years, Jay Electronica‘s existence in hip-hop culture has been borderline mythical. After creating a buzz with his scintillating collaborations with Just Blaze (“Exhibit A” & “Exhibit C”), and signing with Jay Z‘s Roc Nation label in 2010, Electronica all but disappeared from the scene. Here and there, the New Orleans native has surfaced, releasing noteworthy singles (“The Ghost Of Christopher Wallace”, “Call Of Duty”, “Dear Moleskine”) and most recently, his Jay Z-assisted remix of Drake‘s “We Made It”, but tangible news and/or proof of his highly coveted debut album, Act II, have been scarce.
2014 however seems like the year we finally see Jay Electricity take flight off the precipice rather than just teeter over it with his parachute intaact. He is one of the game’s premier lyricists, and he’ll take those talents to the main stage of 2014 Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival this summer, right before the co-headliner, Raekwon, unleashes his rhymes on the populous.
Could this be a pre-cursor to the official release of Act II? We sure hope so.
Jay Electronica & Raekwon will be joined by Joey Bada$$ & Pro Era, among other acts which will be announced. Brooklyn Bodega–the host of the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival–announced these three major acts on their home base.
